Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - flying a real plane is much less complicated
I have owned this sim. for a whole day and have yet to been able to get a Cessna 172 off the ground. I am an ATP rated pilot and have never encountered anything as complicated in real life as X-Plane 9.
It is strictly for people that love to mess with computers.
I own both versions of Flight Sim. and do enjoy them.
I was given X-Plane 9 as a gift. After I delete it I'm worried about what to tell my friend that gave it to me. Thanks but no thanks?
The flight engineers panel of the Boeing 747 is a child's toy compared to this monster.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - GOOD GRIEF
I thought this "simulation" was a throwback from the early 90's. I strongly disagree with the two five star ratings by the author? and his brother? The flight model was poor, the interface with the joystick was poor, the graphics were smooth but looked very primitive. I already deleted this huge sim (60 GB - gigabytes!) off of my system.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Not a game...VERY realistic
X-Plane 9 is not really a game in the classic sense. But it is, without question, the most realistic flight sim you can get for entertainment. It is even used as part of an FAA certified trainer. It has more options and customization than you can imagine. It even allows you to create your own aircraft. I found the program solid and much more efficient (both CPU and graphics) than FSX. This is no "flight-arcade" game. If you really want realism, X-Plane this is only way to go.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A better simulator than Flight Sim X
I purchased both X plane and Microsoft's Flight Sim X for the purpose of using them for some home flight training. As a simulator X plane 9 knocks the socks off Flight Sim X. Flight Sim X was simply too easy and the controls a tad unrealistic. Simple things really bothered me like the fact that the turn coordinator is there simply for show (it doesnt work) Flight Sim X is also a real system hog (see reviews on amazon for numerous complaints). I have numerous other complaints related to its realism that I wont waste time on here. X Plane 9 is everything flight sim x wants to be. I found the simulation much more challenging and the weather manipulation far superior to Flight sim X. The aircraft models and graphics to me looked roughly the same. In addition to the benefits as a simulator, X plane also allows you to do some really amazing things that Flight Sim X doesnt. Want to fly on Mars? Pilot the space shuttle back to earth from orbit? Take the X-15 from under the wing of a B52 into orbit? Design your own airframe? If your trying to decide between X plane and Flight Sim X I would get X plane.

This year has seen several young companies--including Orbius--offering to harness the power of social networking for business.

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.

Virgin America formally launches: Last week, Virgin America offered free Wi-Fi on its single Internet-equipped aircraft, My Other Ride's a Spaceship. Today, the service goes commercial ($10 for flights 3 hours or shorter; $13 for longer flights), and the rollout to other planes begins. Virgin has a special URL--http://wifitracker.virginamerica.com/--that takes you to a tracking page showing which flights in progress have Wi-Fi, but they don't yet tell you how to determine whether a given flight you'll be on will offer the service. With 24 planes and a plan to add service one per week, that shouldn't be a problem for long.

Heathrow Airport Coach Link adds Internet service: Icomera, a leading transportation Wi-Fi firm, has added free Wi-Fi to FirstGroup's RailAir coach service that connects Heathrow Airport with Reading in England. RailAir runs every 20 minutes for a 50-minute route. FirstGroup handles 3 million passengers a day across all its routes, which makes it a plum market for future expansion.

Awareness Technologies adds Wi-Fi positioning for laptop recovery: Awareness is the latest firm to partner with Skyhook Wireless to use Wi-Fi positioning to its products, in this case Laptop Cop, software designed to aid in recovery. The software starts at $50 for a 1-year license, with discounts for quantity.

Climate change is hampering the long-term recovery of rivers from the effects of acid rain, with wet weather offsetting improvements, according to a new study.
