Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionIt's a classic learning game and the question continually persists. Where did Carmen go? That's the mystery. And the clues rely on your knowledge of world geography. Get on the case! The world has lost all the salt from the Dead Sea, the gargoyles from Notre Dame, even the steps to the tango. As a detective, the player's job is to interrogate informants, track clues, and arrest the thief--all before their battery meter runs out. Advance through eight ranks and 40 challenging cases while becoming immersed in different cultures and locations rich with history, art, music, and more than 200 animated characters.
In this updated version, the plot is thicker and hotter. Your pursuit is more sophisticated, As agents for the world-famous ACME Detective Agency, student-sleuths must track down the ex-secret agent and her cohorts. As students pursue Carmen, they'll explore dozens of the world's great cities and diverse cultures, guided by over 1,000 clues about history, the arts, language, currency, and geography.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I can't find Carmen SanDiego
The manufacturer says the game is compatible with Windows XP, but it's not. I have been dealing with tech support since before Christmas trying to get it to run with no success. I can't get past the log in screen for players. The program shuts down saying there is an error. Although the game was cheap, this purchase was not worth the time and money spent. I can't find Carmen Sandiego and at this point I don't want to.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A game all will enjoy!
We have a wide age range in our family. Our oldest is married and our youngest is 5. When our two oldest were in third or fourth grade we began buying the Carmen Sandiego games. The girls loved the challenge and it helped them learn a lot while having fun. This Christmas we again purchased a version for our current computer and our 8 year old is constantly asking to use the computer and play Carmen. Thanks for a faithful product.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - After lots of years Carmen is still going strong!
I purchased this "Where in the World..." version for my grandsons to play when they visit. It is every bit as much fun for them as it was when their mother's played it. Updated but as educational as ever! The best part is that the kids are learning and don't even realize it!! Thanks - Carmen!!

This year has seen several young companies--including Orbius--offering to harness the power of social networking for business.

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.

Virgin America formally launches: Last week, Virgin America offered free Wi-Fi on its single Internet-equipped aircraft, My Other Ride's a Spaceship. Today, the service goes commercial ($10 for flights 3 hours or shorter; $13 for longer flights), and the rollout to other planes begins. Virgin has a special URL--http://wifitracker.virginamerica.com/--that takes you to a tracking page showing which flights in progress have Wi-Fi, but they don't yet tell you how to determine whether a given flight you'll be on will offer the service. With 24 planes and a plan to add service one per week, that shouldn't be a problem for long.

Heathrow Airport Coach Link adds Internet service: Icomera, a leading transportation Wi-Fi firm, has added free Wi-Fi to FirstGroup's RailAir coach service that connects Heathrow Airport with Reading in England. RailAir runs every 20 minutes for a 50-minute route. FirstGroup handles 3 million passengers a day across all its routes, which makes it a plum market for future expansion.

Awareness Technologies adds Wi-Fi positioning for laptop recovery: Awareness is the latest firm to partner with Skyhook Wireless to use Wi-Fi positioning to its products, in this case Laptop Cop, software designed to aid in recovery. The software starts at $50 for a 1-year license, with discounts for quantity.

Climate change is hampering the long-term recovery of rivers from the effects of acid rain, with wet weather offsetting improvements, according to a new study.
