Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An informative reference for discovering the genealogical history of one's family
The Complete Idiot's Guide To Genealogy by professional genealogists Christine Rose and Kay Germain Ingalls is an informed and informative reference for discovering the genealogical history of one's family. Inclusive and enhanced with resources and advice for modern advancements in genealogical tracing, DNA studies, facts for libraries, cemeteries, courthouses, and common abbreviations and acronyms that genealogy frequently involves, The Complete Idiot's Guide To Genealogy acts as an ideal guide for the novice genealogist. Thoroughly "user friendly", The Complete Idiot's Guide To Genealogy is very strongly recommended to all students of genealogy, as well as to those wishing to more thoroughly understand and trace their familial heritage and history.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fast and Easy
If you are a beginner and don't know where to start, start here! This is an easy to use and easy to understand reference. It's great!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excelent!
This book is great. It has helped me trace my ancestry back more than ten generations and to four different countries. I recommend this book to any new or experienced genealogists!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful Book
This is a wonderful book. It is very helpful and knowledgeable tool. It was very helpful for beginners like me. It provides definitions for words you may come across in your searches, "Pedigree Pitfalls" which are tips on how to avoid setbacks in your researching. Christine Rose and Kay Germain Ingalls are very knowledgeable and very experienced professional genealogists who instead of providing facts and info on genealogy, provided you with examples and experiences they had encountered. They provide their own opinion on how to best search for your information. They also expressed the need to cite your sources. I gave this book 5 stars because itr is a wonderful and fully enjoyable research tool.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great in all the right ways!
A very helpful genealogy reference for the beginner. Especially helpful if you're in the "I want to trace my roots. How do I begin, where do I start, and how do I go about doing it?" situation.

Contains a lot of helpful common sense tips that will prevent future headaches. A lot of well thought out suggestions and tips too.

I especially like how when they suggest you talk to your extended family and interview them for genealogy information that you be patient with them and let them tell their stories. A lot of well-mannered tips like these are what elevate this book to excellence.

A lot of the confusing aspects of genealogical research such as document requests and providing proof and evidence are well covered.

I highly recommend this book for the beginner to intermediate level genealogist.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - President-elect Barack Obama named former rival Hillary Clinton as secretary of state on Monday and said Robert Gates would remain defense secretary in a national security team charged with recasting America's leadership role in the world.

How the Honeycrisp apple went from being nearly discarded to one of the tastiest best-named apples of all time -- NYTimes says "the iPod of apples" -- and more about the patenting and branding of apples.
"[D]uring its time of evaluation, Honeycrisp, being a beautiful but partially-colored apple, effectively waited in the wings until the big stage was set. I'm not saying the University would not have introduced Honeycrisp against the tide of Red and Golden. I don't know that. It just takes years to get to the point of taking the leap, and maybe 1991 would have been the leaping point regardless of the current. But there's no doubt Honeycrisp jumped into a very favorable current, one that had been started with Granny Smith and had gained irreversible momentum with Gala and Fuji. Its time had come.

But even when your time has come, if you're an apple, it'll still be a while. There are millions of Honeycrisp trees in the ground right now, but a production ranking is nowhere in sight. Like Gala, Honeycrisp will take a few more years before it climbs out of the "All Others" category.

So, if you're David Bedford, and you evaluated a variety for many years until 1991 and then released it, and it's been out now for well over a decade and it's still in "All Others," you've done a wonderful job. That's just the speed of this game. Honeycrisp is on a meteoric rise. This is a thing that's happening very fast, in apple terms."

A new SDN article delves into the related commands.
