Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nice Unit
I replaced an older Sony DVD Player VCR combo with this unit. I received it on 11/11/08, and have recorded one DVD using the 150 minute setting from a VHS tape, and it worked well. I was hoping to transfer all my VHS tapes to DVD, but this unit will not record from a copyright protected VHS tape. I can't blame Sony for this. I recorded a DVD+RW from the digital TV tuner, and this worked really well. I then tried recording to a VHS tape using SP mode from the digital TV tuner, and the picture was the best I had ever viewed from a VHS tape. The unit was not difficult for me to setup. The quick guide was all I needed. I used the owner's manual for the feature details. I would have liked the display to be a little brighter. Also, I could have used one more set of A/V outputs. Even though I am not using the HDMI connection, I still have a very sharp and clear picture on my Sony HD rear projection TV. This unit has a 1080i resolution which is fine for me, because my Sony HD rear projection TV uses the same resolution. In conclusion, after a week of ownership, I am very pleased with this unit.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Poor Technology Not what I expect from a SONY product
We do not have cable in our area. Use UHF antena only. Tuner OK, not as good as my older Sony Monitor/TV. Great there are 4 inputs!!! Front and back.

Too small buttons for Mens fingers. Very poor button VERY SLOW action on remote. Not the latest in picture size choices for our large monitor.

Our town is small. All 4 channels are same digital and analog. I found could not delete ALL the analog channels completely. I had to leave the lowest and highest analog channels for the channel select button to search correctly. You always have to click past the analog channels. Should be a way to specify ANALOG and Digital or DIGITAL only. Can't ADD Digital Channels with out doing a scan. Some of us gotta move the antena to a different alignment to get the other farther out channels. Should be able to program in the correct Digital station numbers to use. Some digital channels are only active during the day.

No station info and schedule buttons!!!!!! A very desirable buttons. So desirable that my husband bought a Digital converter box just so he did not have the problems of (what he now calls MY) Tuner/DVD/VCR remote. Which is ok because now we can record and watch a different channel.

VHS to DVD is great has improved the picture of many of our old VHS tapes. VHS tape advancement is very SLOW and cumbersome!

I looked and tried 2 other VHS/DVD record/tuners. Sony is still better than the other 2 products currently on the market, but it should be better, its a Sony!!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - excellent
Excellent, no complaints. Does exactly what it claims to do. Much much better than Panasonic counterpart. Can record digital TV channels to VHS tapes.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sony Combo DVD VCR
We actually ordered this device not just to copy old VHS tapes to DVD but to actually copy DVDs to VHS tape. I make DVDs of vacations and family gatherings. The older members of the family do not have DVD players so I wanted to make VHS copies of these DVDs. The device works great and we are very happy with the selection and price performance.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - SONY STILL MAKES THE BEST!
Without a doubt, this is one of the best DVD/VCR recorders I have come across. I have had absolutely no problems with it, both recording and playback. I received it from the shipper as scheduled, on time, and in perfect condition. Easily set up, the unit worked as depicted in the instruction booklet. Another SONY great!

How the Honeycrisp apple went from being nearly discarded to one of the tastiest best-named apples of all time -- NYTimes says "the iPod of apples" -- and more about the patenting and branding of apples.
"[D]uring its time of evaluation, Honeycrisp, being a beautiful but partially-colored apple, effectively waited in the wings until the big stage was set. I'm not saying the University would not have introduced Honeycrisp against the tide of Red and Golden. I don't know that. It just takes years to get to the point of taking the leap, and maybe 1991 would have been the leaping point regardless of the current. But there's no doubt Honeycrisp jumped into a very favorable current, one that had been started with Granny Smith and had gained irreversible momentum with Gala and Fuji. Its time had come.

But even when your time has come, if you're an apple, it'll still be a while. There are millions of Honeycrisp trees in the ground right now, but a production ranking is nowhere in sight. Like Gala, Honeycrisp will take a few more years before it climbs out of the "All Others" category.

So, if you're David Bedford, and you evaluated a variety for many years until 1991 and then released it, and it's been out now for well over a decade and it's still in "All Others," you've done a wonderful job. That's just the speed of this game. Honeycrisp is on a meteoric rise. This is a thing that's happening very fast, in apple terms."
