Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Better than ever
Creator Version 9 worked well for me and 2009 is even a better program. Eveverything seems to work better than before, even if much of the features are similar. Even if most of the programs are similar to version 9 I can still see other diffrences. It is easier to trade files from my PSP and phone with a desktop resident icon. Nice to have especially when I'm in a big hurry. Little things here are there are added. There are more photo and video effects. Music features include home made songs using their premade ones, mix and match the rhythm, beat, melody, and speed. It still makes disks easily but there are more formats too.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Buggy Software Causes More Frustration Than Benefit
While this software covers the bases for just about any kind of media editing you may want to do, it really falls down on the quality and integration front. I had to spend a lot of time trying to capture my source material correctly from my MiniDV camera and then dealing with the dropped frames by manually resyncing the audio. When I went to master the finished product to a DVD I kept running into a mysterious error that ultimately turned out to be a bug in the software caused by launching the DVD program the normal way. I eventually got so fed up with this that I tried out and ultimately bought a copy of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pack, which is roughly the same price but is much, much more stable.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great for beginners - 5 star
I am a virtual novice when it comes to photo, audio & video editing. So when i found this program i was a bit apprehensive because of my subject matter expertise = low. This program was very easy to use and very effective for what I wanted to do with it. it works so good i am recommending my niece to buy a copy because she is also interested in editing software.

Great program - highly recommend esp 1st edition not unhanced or gold or SE.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not ready for Prime time
I have been using the product in one form or another for a long time. I have never been disappointed with an upgrade until this one. The problem is not with the features it is with the instability of the program and how slow it is. To date I have had problems ripping CD's and Creating audiobooks. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. The support from Roxio is awful. You have to email them and wait. Then you get the standard reply which is to run msconfig and test the reboot until you find the program giving you problems. I started a trouble ticket almost a month ago and it is still not resolved. Meanwhile I have been using Windows media player to rip my discs and a freeware program to create the audiobook files. It is a sad day when two free programs kick the stuffing out of a mature product like Creator.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Solves Many Media Problems
Using the latest version of Roxio Creator will keep me as a customer. More improvements and features were put into the package, certainly enough for me to get my money's worth. That's saying a lot for a user like me who still uses MS Office 2000. With new devices and formats for media I guess it is necessary to keep up with the upgrades though.
The interface changes are better for users. With so many programs within the suite this was a smart move. I can find my programs much quicker.
It can handle my AVCHD camcorder video. I didn't have to get a specialized video program. I'm holding off on buying a BD burner and 2009 can create BD disks without it. With compression it holds about 1 hours worth/disk. There are some tweaks to the video programs which only experienced users may notice like more layers, effects, ease of use, though no earth shattering changes. Users with older versions should check out the new features and see if its a good fit and not everyone needs to upgrade everytime. Definitely new users should get a lot out of the program.

Amazon.com is offering a so-called Black Friday special on Eye-Fi Share:
The 2 GB Wi-Fi-enabled Secure Digital card normally runs $90; it's $65 while the sale lasts.

Given that Eye-Fi introduced a limited-time-only 4 GB "Anniversary" model that replaced the 2 GB Share version in its current line-up, and that the Anniversary model was $130 list but $100 for Costco members, it's pretty clear that the 2 GB won't re-appear, the 4 GB model will drop in price, and Amazon's acting as a clearance center.

The Eye-Fi Share lets you upload pictures over a local network to a designated computer, or upload via a Wi-Fi network for which the Eye-Fi is configured to connect over the Internet to Eye-Fi's servers, and from there to a specified photo-sharing, social-network, or photo-printing service.

I'm a fan of the Eye-Fi, although I favor the currently $130 Explore model (see my review), which comes with geotagging (via Skyhook Wireless) and adds a year of included uploading via Wayport locations (now part of AT&T).

I've heard it said by Dave Winer and many many others: if only Dean had reinvested half the money raised into the Internet, then ...

OK, so you're the Dean Campaign Chief Information Officer in August 2003. The money starts to roll in. $20 million over six months, $2-4 million per month.

What would you spend the money on?

  1. What does your monthly budget look like?
  2. What is your application and infrastructure portfolio?
  3. How much will you allocate to maintenance?
  4. You're building from scratch, so what problems do you hope to avoid through wise architecture?
  5. What are your big milestones?
  6. Who are your key vendors?

How do you spend in consonance with the campaign strategy?

  1. How will you use the Internet to bring offline voters into the campaign at the same numbers as radio or television broadcasts?
  2. What is your online strategy for responding to attack ads and opposition pundits in radio, television and print?
  3. Online community takes time to build and is very hard to organize geographically. What will you do to match the state-by-state primary schedule?
  4. What can you do with online services to serve the campaign in caucus states?
  5. You are preparing for Bush to launch in Spring 2004. What are your countermeasures to reach out to moderate Republicans online while the GOP uses its advanced voter email systems to barrage 200 million validated email addresses?
  6. How will you lower the cost-per-vote vs. the GOP?
