Rating: - Worth the investment
I hesitated for a long time purchasing these, but is well worth it. In the short time I have had it I have learned more than multiple years of 'traditional' language instruction. This teaches you how you learned your first language, it does get repetitive and sometimes you are not sure what it wants (it will prod you along). I find that I think in the other language rather than trying to translate in my head which is much easier.
Rating: - Best learning course
I found this French course interesting and fun to use ... and not as hard as i would have thought . Having the pictures of items and then being taught the word makes it easy and i find i retain it better . Worth every penny , Steven Robertson
Rating: - Rosetta Stone rocks!
I was leery about the advertising for Rosetta Stone, which makes it sound like a painless, fast way to learn a language. I bought it for my partner, who loves the flexibility of studying whenever he wants. And his French has gotten a lot better, even after just a few lessons!
Rating: - French Newbie
I have recently decided to learn French, and at 50 years old it's harder to learn new things. But, with Rosetta Stone's easy to use program, I've found it works quickly. I especially like the sound review, it's quite helpful in learning the pronunciation of the words.
Rating: - Rosetta Stone V3: French, Level 1, 2 & 3
I had an extensive previous knowledge of French but had not used it in many years. I plan to travel to France this summer. I have found using Rosetta Stone quite enjoyable. I am about half way through level 2 and about 95% has been review. The method of instruction is excellent as it involves hearing, speaking, seeing and writing. The voice recognition software is very good. After completing level 3 I plan to go back and redo the pronunciation and speaking sections with a higher level speaking criticality. The levels range from 1 through 5 with 3 being "normal." I am currently using "3".
I will probably use Rosetta Stone to learn a language that I don't already know. I think it will be fun as well as effective.
Given that Eye-Fi introduced a limited-time-only 4 GB "Anniversary" model that replaced the 2 GB Share version in its current line-up, and that the Anniversary model was $130 list but $100 for Costco members, it's pretty clear that the 2 GB won't re-appear, the 4 GB model will drop in price, and Amazon's acting as a clearance center.
The Eye-Fi Share lets you upload pictures over a local network to a designated computer, or upload via a Wi-Fi network for which the Eye-Fi is configured to connect over the Internet to Eye-Fi's servers, and from there to a specified photo-sharing, social-network, or photo-printing service.
I'm a fan of the Eye-Fi, although I favor the currently $130 Explore model (see my review), which comes with geotagging (via Skyhook Wireless) and adds a year of included uploading via Wayport locations (now part of AT&T).
I've heard it said by Dave Winer and many many others: if only Dean had reinvested half the money raised into the Internet, then ...
OK, so you're the Dean Campaign Chief Information Officer in August 2003. The money starts to roll in. $20 million over six months, $2-4 million per month.
What would you spend the money on?
What does your monthly budget look like?
What is your application and infrastructure portfolio?
How much will you allocate to maintenance?
You're building from scratch, so what problems do you hope to avoid through wise architecture?
What are your big milestones?
Who are your key vendors?
How do you spend in consonance with the campaign strategy?
How will you use the Internet to bring offline voters into the campaign at the same numbers as radio or television broadcasts?
What is your online strategy for responding to attack ads and opposition pundits in radio, television and print?
Online community takes time to build and is very hard to organize geographically. What will you do to match the state-by-state primary schedule?
What can you do with online services to serve the campaign in caucus states?
You are preparing for Bush to launch in Spring 2004. What are your countermeasures to reach out to moderate Republicans online while the GOP uses its advanced voter email systems to barrage 200 million validated email addresses?
