Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Vista the DOG
I was quite disappointed with this product as it is poorly supported by device manufacturers.
Old hardware you might as well throw away if you purchase this.
The Hardware to support this is just now getting to the market with drivers being released only now.
Using this for an HTPC is an odd combo as the desktop is not very nice on a tv but Media center is outstanding on a tv. It makes you wonder if the desktop is going away eventually.

If you lie DIY projects this is a big one. have fun

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great
good os, for all people that thinks 64-bit is bad, think again and use some proper software with 64-bit support, and check devices if they have 64-bit drivers, before buying 64-bit windows, all of the programs i use works fine in this vesion, openoffice, paint.net, picasa, foxit reader, firefox, hwmonitor, fraps, trillian, winamp, winrar, steam, and the excellent antivirus NOD32 & Smart Security works without any problems,

my canon IP5200R works fine with 64-bit, it has 64-bit drivers

before you buy this version CHECK for drivers for you printer and scanner if they dont have drivers get 32-bit but if they have drivers get this version

you can also use 3Gb or more RAM in this version, with 32-bit windows you only get 3GB max and not including graphics card

the "Start Search" in startmenu is addicting!
its the most useful serch, as in you can search startmenu or just type in a Command Prompt command and you open up programs, like perfmon, msconfig and Services

Aero is nice interface to

Networking has realy improved in vista
vista will run best on 2GB memory or more
but it is possible to tweak it

and i do recommend turning off Windows Search, System Protection, Automatic Defrag & move swapfile to second disk

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great software
I dont know what the big fuss about switching over to 64-bit software is, I have not had any problems. I would recomend to anyone doing a new build I am not sure the older comuters would have drivers available you can always check microsofts 64-bit software site and run a check on your computer if it is compatible.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Crippled
Mandatory driver signing renders this OS incompatible with just about any audio/video hardware you have, all for the sake of DRMming the entire signal stream. Crippleware at its finest.

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.

A federal judge has ordered Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to testify in the "Vista Capable" class-action lawsuit, rejecting the company's contention that he knew nothing about changing the hardware requirements for the marketing program.
